Get Hands-On With The Recycling Process
Suitable For Ages 6+
The urgency to reduce, reuse, and recycle in Hong Kong has reached unprecedented heights. In early 2022, it was estimated that hotel quarantine guests alone had used and disposed of over 100 million pieces of plastic items. Shockingly, projections indicate that by 2030, Hong Kong will be sending 4.2 billion single-use takeaway containers to landfills each year. To address this pressing issue, HandsOn Hong Kong and V Cycle have joined forces to launch 'ReThink Plastic', an initiative that empowers Hongkongers to recycle their single-use plastic correctly and encourages them to reconsider the impact of their everyday choices. Volunteers are invited to actively participate in the recycling process at the V Cycle factory. Before getting directly involved, volunteers will receive a comprehensive 45-minute briefing and tour. During the activity, volunteers will work alongside elderly cardboard collectors employed by V Cycle, providing them with dignified employment opportunities.
For volunteers aged 6-12, participation in this activity requires attendance with a guardian, and online registration should be completed together. Click here to sign up.
