Exciting news for foodies – Black Sheep Restaurants is set to unveil its latest dining venture, Prince and The Peacock. This marks the ushering of the second phase of the exciting revival of Tai Kwun’s Central Magistracy where the restaurant takes a regal position above The Magistracy Dining Room. The establishment is a testament to the collective vision and dedication of founder Syed Asim Hussain and Chef Palash Mitra, previously at the helm of the New Punjab Club, the first and only Punjabi restaurant with a Michelin star.
Prince and The Peacock aims to narrate the splendor of India’s historical grandeur, a chapter Chef Palash is well-equipped to tell, given his early career in royal Indian palaces. Though the menu remains under wraps, it promises to delve into the diverse flavors of India, with dishes that echo the opulence of regal banquets, including aromatic Awadhi biryanis, robust Rajasthani curries, and saffron-infused Kashmiri specialties.
The restaurant’s design, a creation by Joyce Wang of Joyce Wang Studio – who is also behind The Magistracy Dining Room and Mott 32 – accommodates 60 diners and features a private dining room. It is lavishly decorated, boasting intricate peacock motifs, a nod to the Indian emblem of sovereignty and power, and crafted by skilled Indian artisans, resulting in an ambiance that beautifully pays homage to India’s cultural legacy.
Stay tuned to this page and their social media channel for more updates, as we anticipate the restaurant’s opening in either April or May. We’re eager to experience it firsthand! Furthermore, Prince and The Peacock offers a secluded, enchanting balcony with views over Arbuthnot Road and a bar area ideal for both relaxing teas and more potent drinks.
We love New Punjab Club and cannot wait to see what Chef Palash has in store!
