American School Hong Kong

American School Hong Kong will offer a blended international and American curriculum, plus the IB Diploma, providing your child with a challenging, holistic education taught by highly qualified North American teachers.

THE CURRICULUM:

In addition to IB and American curriculum, the school focuses on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). This refers to how all topics in subject areas relate to each other and to the real world. Developmentally appropriate STEAM lessons are included at all grade levels. They are designed to accommodate the broad spectrum of learning styles found in a typical classroom. The activities are more engaging, student self-directed, project and discovery based. This promotes greater buy-in by the students (hoorah!) and ultimately deeper understanding. It also encourages students to develop appropriate ownership and responsibility for their education.

ACTIVITIES:

Students will have an opportunity to participate in both competitive and/or non-competitive sporting events within the school and externally.

*  SPORTS: Basketball, soccer, volleyball, and track & field, as well as other team sports will be on offer. The will offer an outdoor education program and a full range of other extra-curricular programs.

*  ARTS: Music, dance, and drama are also offered for your little culture vultures.

* DEBATE: Students will have opportunities for public speaking, debates, Model United Nations, World Scholars Cup and Maths Challenge/Olympiad.
