The school’s use and development of the Teams and OneNote technologies as the foundation of their online learning provision was key to their success. They have also held to an ongoing commitment to staff training and development using the Microsoft Education Centre Courses. Most staff are Microsoft Innovative Educators (M.I.E) and some have achieved Expert status, (MIEE).
WASHK is committed to the focused application of technology in education. Throughout the day, children use tools and technologies to help them problem solve and work together to find better solutions to challenges. All of this provision is backed-up by the daily use of tablet technology in daily lessons.
WASHK is the first private school in Hong Kong to be a designated Microsoft Showcase School.
WASHK Headmaster, Howard Tuckett, says, “We're very proud that Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong has been awarded the ‘Microsoft Showcase School’ status. Since early 2020, we've been working hard to achieve all the very exacting standards required by Microsoft to qualify.”
WASHK adapted Microsoft technologies to create an organizational structure for a virtual learning environment during the pandemic, efficiently moving the management of teaching and learning to an online mode.
Head of ICT & STEAM, Shahzada Janjua, says, “Our students apply the technologies to innovate, problem solve and collaborate with others to find better solutions to the questions teachers have given to them.”
Microsoft continues to support WASHK by providing staff training, technical support and networking with other schools. This enables WASHK incorporate Microsoft technologies throughout the school and share the knowledge with other schools.
