Cube O Discovery Park opens its doors at the new Plaza 88 Mall in Tsuen Wan. Covering an area of over 10,000 square feet, Hong Kong’s first city-center ocean experience will feature a dazzling combo of real marine life displays, thrilling interactive multimedia games, and a variety of recreation and education facilities as well as dining outlets.
The idea behind this ambitious endeavor is to create a unique experience that combines real marine life with interactive games and effects to promote a message of marine conservation.
Perfect for the whole family, there are several themed zones within the park. A particularly exciting attraction is Hong Kong’s first acrylic window projection, a 40-meter-long viewing panel that integrates views of marine creatures with exciting light and shadow effects. Jellyfish are shown in a kaleidoscope of colors, while visitors are taken on a Virtual Reality (VR) journey through the mystical deep sea. There is also a Mixed Reality (MR) jellyfish classroom where visitors can become “guardians of the ocean”, helping to rescue a stranded green sea turtle, nurse it back to health, and help it find its way back to the sea.
The children’s playhouse is an ocean-themed play space where children can run around and let out that energy while brushing up on their marine knowledge. The dining area is right next door so parents can tuck in and take a break while the kids play nearby.
Real-life marine creatures mixed with VR and MR effects? Who could resist?
Families and even adults just looking for something new to do on the weekend.
Interactive activities such as night camping in the aquarium tunnel and aquarium science and conservation classes are also available.
