Established 10 years ago, BeatFreaked provides a platform for students to express themselves, enjoy performances by their peers, and immerse themselves in creativity.
This year, students from grades 7-12 put up a total of 25 performing acts across four categories: bands, duets or trios, dancers, and solo artists. The school welcomed performances from K-pop dancers to Bollywood and Western mashups.
CIS also had a team of students who worked on projections, lighting, and as stage crew, making BeatFreaked an event by students for the students.
BeatFreaked aligns with CIS’s mission to engage, enlighten, and empower all students. Through this event, students can explore and showcase their own artistic expression with fellow peers and the community.
As Grade 11 student performer Ozgur G. puts it, BeatFreaked is an excellent reminder of how the performing arts bring people together, strengthening communities.
“Every time I go on stage, I do my best to get everyone excited, and after seeing all of those smiling faces in the crowd whether it be my fellow performers or friends in the crowd, I feel a strong sense of community,” he added.
