One of the key departments of MYMCA, the Continuing Education and Enrichment department develops sustainable enrichment programs that not only promote a child’s critical thinking and problem solving skills but also help them concentrate to make learning more rewarding.

They offer 4 core programs to preschool children: M.Y Budding Actors, M.Y Dance, M.Y Keyboard and M.Y Musicians.

The Scoop on the M.Y Programs:

• M.Y Budding Actors is a theme-based program that introduces children to role playing and basic drama performance techniques. Children learn to think creatively, express themselves confidently and develop good communication skills.
• The M.Y Dance program provides children with the opportunity to be exposed to various genres of dance. Children will learn basic dance techniques, apply the choreography learnt and perform with confidence.
• The M.Y Keyboard program uses a rolled-up keyboard to teach children basic keyboard techniques, note-reading, musical terms and aural skills. They build confidence by performing songs on the keyboard in an ensemble. They also offer online lessons for M.Y Keyboard in groups of 4, which caters to the different needs of each child.
• M.Y Musicians is more exploratory and experiential. The purpose is to encourage children to learn through creativity and improvisation. They learn to differentiate pitch, create rhythmic patterns, play different percussion instruments and express themselves musically.
